Arenac Realty Company History

In 1957, Pete Stanley began selling real estate with Bilacic Real Estate and eventually set the foundation for the business that we know today. In 1970, Pete became affiliated with Arenac Abstract & Realty Co. of Standish and opened a branch office in Au Gres inside the former Holland Merchandise Center/IGA; with Pete’s son Dennis joining the business with his father in 1973. Pete and Dennis changed the name to Arenac Realty Co. in 1983; and in 1986, Pete’s youngest son Mike obtained his real estate license and joined the business.

1992 was a year of major change for the firm with the opening of their doors at a new location, where we remain to this date.  These changes allowed Pete, Dennis and Mike to take the business to a higher level of professional service to both clients and customers in the marketing of residential, waterfront, resort, commercial and recreational properties.

The lives of Pete and his wife Ruth were tragically cut short in 1997. Since that time, the Stanley family has continued running the business with Pete’s spirit ever present. In 2001, Dennis’ son John received his real estate license, thus becoming the third generation in the Stanley family marketing properties in Au Gres.

That spirit continues today, with Dennis as the Broker/Owner. The office has three additional associate brokers including Dennis' son, John and four sales associates. Growth not only in size of the staff but in technology as well, with major changes to marketing techniques involving the use of the Internet. Maintaining a presence on multiple websites allows the firm to market properties to buyers from a broad spectrum of interests.

Dennis tells his staff "The Number One priority in dealing with the public is treating them with respect, honesty and integrity." It has resulted in many repeat customers and a strong base of clientele over the years.
